We are proud to present our 2010 “STRIVE HIGH” workshops!

Strive High workshops are fun and interactive, and their content has been adapted to cater for kids and teens from 5-20 years of age. Strive High is based on the application of Positive Psychology, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Art and Play Therapy.

 

What is the focus of Strive High?

  • Learning to CHALLENGE NEGATIVITY and COPE with stressful situations.
  • Identifying and celebrating individual strengths to build CONFIDENCE and SELF ESTEEM.
  • Developing communication, perspective taking and empathy skills to encourage HEALTHY SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS.
  • Establishing short and long term GOALS to build motivation and gain a sense of PURPOSE and MEANING.
  • Enhancing PROBLEM SOLVING and DECISION MAKING skills.
  • Teaching proactive ANTI-BULLYING STRATEGIES to minimise playground and cyber bullying.

 

When do Strive High workshops operate?

  • Workshops operate during the school term, over a 5 week period, typically between 4-6pm.
  • Workshops operate on Saturdays, over a 4 week period, typically between 9.30am-12noon or 1pm-3.30pm
  • Workshops also run during the school holiday periods.
  • Days, times and locations are determined according to demand.

 

 How many children/adolescents per workshop?

  • Workshops are conducted in groups of 6-10 children/adolescents.

 

How much does Strive High cost?

$330 ($30 per hour x 10 hours + GST) which includes:

  • Activity worksheets, materials and artwork provided for children/adolescents.
  • Parent information pack exploring developmental concepts and strategies.
  • Individualised report detailing child/adolescent observations and performance during workshop.

 

How is Strive High assessed for quality and effectiveness?

Children/adolescents & parents undertake evaluations prior to and following the workshops in order to continuously assess the effectiveness of Strive High.

 

How is Strive High different from other programs?

Kids and Teens Group have developed evidence-based, interactive programs and are committed to providing ongoing support via follow up services and interactive online technologies.

 

Current Vacancies

We currently have vacancies for our upcoming Strive High workshops that will run in Term 3 and the October school holidays. Workshops will be held at the Hurstville Youth Zone, various PCYC venues and the Brain & Mind Research Institute.
