School Based Workshops
We have had the privilege of working with many wonderful schools (students, parents and educators) in promoting student resilience (self worth, motivation, empathy, problem solving and social skills) through our program STRIVE HIGH. We have also been able to tailor Strive High to meet the requirements of government and non government grants for wellbeing programs within schools.
The way we tailor Strive High is based on what content schools want addressed, the duration of the program (one off seminar vs. several interactive workshops) and budget requirements. What we have found to be the most beneficial method of promoting resilience and self esteem, is a series of short workshops (i.e. App 5 x 1 period sessions), followed by several refresher sessios towards the latter half of the year. This all depends on budget requirements, which we try to accommodate as best we can.
Below is a list of skills we focus on, and ones often requested by educators/parents:
- Learning to identify how unhelpful/negative thoughts affect feelings and actions.
- Learning to identify triggers and challenge negative thoughts.
- Identifying and celebrating individual strengths to build identity and self worth.
- Developing communication, perspective taking and empathy skills to encourage health social relationships.
- Establishing short and long term goals to build motivation and gain a sense of purpose and meaning.
- Enhancing awareness of how to problem solve, negotiate and make decisions.
