“Kids & Teens Group offer a range of educational workshops and seminars, as well as individual mentoring programs, that promote resilience and wellbeing in the Youth of Today.”

 

Workshops

Strive High workshops are fun and interactive, and their content has been adapted to cater for kids and teens from 5-20 years of age. Strive High is based on the application of Positive Psychology, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Art and Play Therapy. Strive High focuses on building self esteem, healthy social interactions and reslience in children and adolescents. For more information on Srtive High see the Kids and Teens Group Workshops.

 

Student Mentoring

Student mentoring involves one-to-one sessions that help children/teens understand their learning style & environment to increase motivation and maximise their potential. Sessions are tailored to address emotional & behavioural needs, which include;

  • Organisation skills (homework routine, timetabling, assessment and exam preparation)
  • Increasing motivation (routines, interests, relationships, strengths and goals)
  • Attention & concentration (identifying learning styles, positive attention strategies, ways to increase memory)
  • Managing emotional & behavioural difficulties (low self esteem, negative thinking, stress, anxiety & depression)

These sessions cost $80 per hour (which include resources and personalised parent pack with strategies for the home and school environment to maximise the child / teen's learning style). Days and locations are flexible. May take approximately 2-3 sessions to teach the child/teen how to best manage their learning environment. Additional sessions are on an as needs basis (e.g. assessment and exam preparation, stress management). 

 

Seminars

Kids & Teens Group offer seminars at Childcare Centres, Schools and Tertiary Institutes for youth, parents and educators. Our seminars are based on current psychological research and application, have a fun and interactive style and cost between $15 - $30 per person based on resources, program development and number of people. Seminars are organised on request and can be tailored to address a range of behavioural and psychological youth issues, which may include: 

  • Enhancing Confidence & Self Esteem

  • Bullying (traditional & cyber): minimising prevalence & impact from a psychological & IT perspective

  • Challenging depression

  • ADHD/ADD: strategies to facilitate attention and concentration

  • Resilience and coping with stressful situations / challenges

  • Improving social interaction skills & team building

  • Goal setting and developing sense of purpose & meaning

  • Mindfulness and positive thinking in dealing with generalised and specific anxiety (phobias)

  • Computer gaming addictions (including online social networking sites)

  • Motivational strategies for career planning

 

Kids & Teens Group are affiliated with the Psychological Services provided by Registered Psychologist, Dr. Andrew Campbell at the Brain and Mind Research Institute, Clinical Centre.

Counselling and Assessments

Child, Adolescent & Family Counselling:

Counselling sessions are conducted by Child and Adolescent Psychologist, Dr. Andrew Campbell MAPS (PS0107522) at the Brain and Mind Research Institute, Clinical Centre. Dr. Campbell employs a combination of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Rational Emotive Behaviour and Humanistic Therapy to address the specific needs of the individuals and/or families seeking psychological support. When working with young children he employs mindfulness, music and play therapy techniques to address issues including self esteem, stress, depression and anxiety. Counselling sessions run for approximately 50 minutes and cost $150 inc GST. Clients referred by a GP under a Mental Health Care Plan are eligible for a Medicare Rebate. Rebates may also be attained through most private medical insurance agencies.

Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children 4th Edition
Sent to requested parties (GPs, paediatricians, educators & parents)
Repeated WISC-IV assessment & feedback over appropriate developmental period.
Behavioural assessments include: ADD/ADHD, Conduct Disorder/ODD, Mood Disorder & Personality Disorder
Follow up assessments are conducted after an appropriate time frame
